Creating tables

Create a DynamoDB table from the sidebar with a partition key, an optional sort key and attribute types. Tables are created in on-demand billing mode.

The Create Table dialog

Click + in the sidebar header. The dialog is a single form; fields are cleared each time it opens and the cursor lands in Table Name.

  1. Name the table and its keys

Both the name and the partition key are required; the dialog says so if either is missing.

  2. Click Create Table

DynamoOps issues CreateTable with BillingMode: PAY_PER_REQUESTand shows “Creating table <name>...”. The sidebar refreshes a moment later.

  3. Wait for ACTIVE

New tables start in CREATING. Open the Dashboard to watch the status, or refresh the sidebar after a few seconds.

What is set, and what is not

  • Billing mode is always on-demand. Switch to provisioned capacity in the AWS Console or with IaC if you need it.
  • Secondary indexes are added afterwards with the Index manager.
  • TTL, Streams, encryption settings, tags, point-in-time recovery, table class and deletion protection are not configured by the dialog; set them in AWS or in the exported IaC.
Design once, export forever
Create the table here to prototype quickly, then use Export Schema to capture it as Terraform, CloudFormation or Pulumi for your infrastructure repository.

AWS errors such as a name already in use are shown inline in the dialog with the original message.
