Exporting data

Export the loaded items or everything behind your current query as JSON or CSV, choosing exactly which fields to include.

The Export dialog

Click ⬇ JSON or ⬇ CSV in the toolbar; either opens the same Export Data dialog with the format preselected. If nothing is loaded you see “No items to export”.

The Export Data dialog.
  1. Pick the format

    JSON or CSV radios.

  2. Choose fields

Every attribute seen in the loaded items is listed, all selected by default, with key attributes marked. Shortcuts: Select all, None, Keys only. At least one field is required.

  3. Decide the scope

Leave Export entire table unticked to export the items currently loaded, or tick it to let DynamoOps page through the full result set. The box is pre-ticked when the current query has more pages.

  4. Export

The file downloads as <table>_data.json or <table>_data.csv and a toast reports the item and field counts.

Export entire table

Despite the label, this option exports everything behind your current query: it replays the last Scan, Query or SQL statement with the same filters, 1000 items per request, following pagination until the data is exhausted. If no query has run, it performs a full table scan. The button reads “Fetching… (N items)” while paging. A filtered Scan stays filtered; a Query exports that key range only.

Capacity and time
A full export reads every item once. On a large on-demand table that is real read capacity and real minutes. The fetch is not recorded in Cost Analytics, so check the Table Dashboard’s consumed RCU chart if you need the figure.

Output formats

FormatShape
JSONA pretty-printed array of plain objects containing only the selected fields. Fields missing from an item are omitted.
CSVHeader row of selected fields; each cell is the JSON serialisation of the value, double-quoted. Nested objects appear as JSON text, strings keep their quotes, null is empty.
orders_data.csv
"customerId","orderDate","total","items"
"""cus_123""","""2026-10-24""",42.5,"[{""sku"":""A1"",""qty"":2}]"
  • JSON output round-trips through Import without changes.
  • The field list comes from the loaded page; attributes that appear only in later pages are not offered even when exporting the entire table.
  • The toolbar filter and row selection do not affect the export. To export a subset, narrow the query first.
  • DynamoDB JSON, NDJSON and Excel outputs are not available.
